Now, too much of either can hurt performance, but...just don't go crazy either way...lol On my 5.9L Ram, I have true dual 2.25" and it runs great down low, but, could use a little larger. I would say dual 2.5" would be a perfect, with an X-pipe, for performance purposes. Also, the larger the pipe, the deeper it sounds. But, back pressure is necessary in a naturally aspirated engine, and without it, you actually lose low end power, but, at high rpms, it can benefit. So, its all in what you're doing with it. Street purposes, I'd stay on the smaller side.
